As you begin your journey here, understanding the local public transport system will help you settle in, commute efficiently, and explore the best of what (West) Flanders has to offer.

Public transport

West Flanders has a reasonably well-connected public transport network. The backbone of the public transport system are buses, operated by De Lijn, connecting towns, cities, and rural areas across the province. A special treat is our Coast Tram (Kusttram), Europe’s longest tram line, running along the Belgian coast and providing a scenic way to explore coastal towns.

Trains are operated by SNCB, the National Railway Company of Belgium (SNCB/NMBS). The train network is efficient for travel between major cities and neighbouring regions, including easy access to Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp.

We would like to share some useful sources and tips about public transport in Belgium.
